GDAC 2014/1

this morning I received no less than two private "thank you" mails from fellow debian contributors. – thanks guys, this made a good start into the week!

this posting is part of GDAC (gregoa's debian advent calendar), a project to show the bright side of debian & why it's fun for me to contribute.

The website you’re linking just does two popups “Rangy not supported in your browser. Reason: Neither Range nor TextRange are implemented” and then redirects to a page just saying: Identi.ca This site runs pump.io, the high-performance Open Source social engine. It pumps your life in and out of your friends, family and colleagues. (No pump.io account yet? Try it!) So, WTF? (Konqueror, Debian sid)

hm, WFM with iceweasel, chromium, lynx, elinks, and w3m (debian sid). maybe a temporary glitch at pump.io?

I'm quite sure not only greybeards like you use Debian. I have been using Debian since Woody was released, and I was only 20ish then. Now, 10 years later, I am still a pure Debian user, and on every device I can install it. Although, I have been into Computer Science most of life, so it's very natural for me to be using a Linux system(or so I feel). On top of that, I really enjoy playing with more retro tools, like Gopher, Lynx, and have even been on some MUDs.
